Beyond E2E - Repeat Pattern

When: Aug 17, 2019
9:00 am
Details:

Edge-to-Edge is a quick and effective technique for quilting those simple quilts.  You let the computer decide the size and repeats of the pattern to be used.  While you can do some editing to the design (stretch or squeeze), in the end you have to accept the pattern the way the computer defines it.  It is hard to nest your designs to reduce the open lines between rows and even harder to use a design with a deep nest that doesn’t match your top and bottom edges.

Repeat Pattern allows you to address each of these issues.  In this class you will learn how to:

  •          size the pattern to best match your quilt piecing
  •          how to bring in the pattern
  •          flip it to use a left to right and the right to left stitching path
  •          nest the pattern to achieve that uniform overall look
  •          take the pattern out over the edge of the quilt to ensure all edges are secure
  •          fill the pattern to your boundary
  •          eliminate the pattern distortion (circles becoming ovals) that often happens in Edge-to-Edge
  •          relocate your patterns as you advance for a seamless design

We will be working with Creative Studio 7.  You need to bring a laptop (with Creative Studios 7 loaded with a wired mouse) and a small lap sized (no larger than 50x60) quilt to load and work on.  We do have a Quilt of Valor quilt you can stitch out if you do not have a small quilt.

The cost for this class is $125 for the day. Bring a lunch or plan to join the group in ordering a lunch from a local restaurant.  You can register for the class by email at pagej@thequiltingpage.com or by phone at 651-214-4545.
