Page will demonstrate creative techniques and show examples of how she has used grids on actual quilts. She will explore many ways to enhance your quilting: audition designs, squaring, point-to-point placement in borders and edge-to-edge, free-flowing designs, crosshatch, setting scale, and accurate placement of floating motifs.

This class will provide you with inspiration, along with easy to follow guidelines and techniques that  answer the  questions of background fills,  What, Why, Where, When and How.  There will even be a few surprise uses for some old tools. Not all blocks are created equal, yet our job is to make them all look good. Page will demonstrate fast and easy techniques for placing repeating blocks into not so perfect piecing. Triangle tricks are a great way to combine designs within a block. Learn ways to stitch out more than one block at a time, lay out and review designs and create design portfolios. Statler SAM (stand alone mode) Pattern Alteration (Statler)

2 hour Lecture using SAM

Keep up with the latest Creative Studio updates. With the advances to Creative Studio we now have the power to alter a pattern to fit the space instead of "just plopping it in." Follow Page as she shows you how she has tweaked some simple patterns to fit unusual spaces. Become comfortable with dividing, drawing, and manipulating lines, reverse start and end, and exporting. It will become so easy you'll never fret about finding a pattern that "fits" again. Design the layout of your quilt on a laptop while the machine is working for you. New Material for 2012.

Students are welcome to follow along with a laptop, however time is limited. Students must have a good working knowledge of their computer. The most current version of Creative Studio should be installed. For the benefit of the majority, Individual "computer" issues will not be addressed with in class.

Build a Pictogram, Concatenating and Pattern Alteration in SAM (new class for Statler)

4 hour Lecture with SAM, Lap top required

Let your Overall Quilting Tell a Story Concatenating opens up a whole new world of possibilities. Students will learn how to build an original "pictogram", an overall design that is everything but repeating. Several designers have concatenating sets, we will create some of our own. Create an ongoing story by alternating and adding elements to design you already own. Then arrange them to create a one of a kind overall design.  We will discuss what goes into a good overall design, choose patterns, and create a usable project.   Students should bring a laptop with most current version of Creative Studio loaded. It is helpful to have access to all your designs. Have in mind themes to build your pictogram around. (sports, woodlands, favorite edge to edge) Let's have fun.
